Body · Mind · Spirit Practices
with Eddie Stern
About the Workshop
This three-day workshop will include asanas, pranayama, and lectures. The asana practices include Yoga Sangraha Level 1, Sun Salutation Class, and Yoga and Strength. The pranayama practices will be Level 1 and 2.
Eddie will also give lectures on his forthcoming book, Concentration, The Practice of Presence, which explains how the Yogic sense of concentration differs from our usual ideas of what it means to focus.
Eddie will cover these ideas in simple ways over this weekend. He will also lead chanting and meditation practices within each lecture, with supporting Western science and Yogic textual references.

Weekend Program
What to Expect
Sangraha means "a collection" or "compendium." This class is a grounding and calming sequence of postures arranged to have a positive effect on the nervous system. The postures come from the larger Hatha Yoga tradition. Eddie has put these sequences together over years of experimentation and exploration, oriented towards regulation of the autonomic nervous system leading to states of inner calm and balance.
A dynamic and fun class featuring 6 different types of Sun Salutes from Yoga Sangraha, plus six different dands from the Hindu wrestling tradition called Kushti. Followed by standing asanas, cool-down seated postures, slow breathing and meditation. Energetic but accessible to all.
A challenging class combining yoga with classical Indian physical exercise practices, including pushups, squats, and dynamic cardiovascular practices. About 40β50 minutes of Sun Salutations and strength-building, followed by calming asanas.
Learn to slow the breath down to bring deep calm to the nervous system. Eight different breathing patterns over 40 minutes, followed by relaxation. Kriyas are energizing and purifying practices. Level 2 introduces extended practices that are both energizing and grounding.
Eddie will present ideas from his forthcoming book exploring how the Yogic sense of concentration differs from our usual ideas of focus. Each lecture includes chanting and meditation practices, supporting Western science and Yogic textual references. These ideas will be covered in simple, accessible ways throughout the weekend.
